Ella Kim

Animation & Visual Effects / MFA

Ella is a passionate compositor with a background in film. In her undergraduate studies, she majored in Entertainment Design (video design), which dealt with the process from pre-production to post-production. She planned, shot, and edited films. Ella did an internship at an entertainment agency to make promotional films.

She got interested in VFX more than other areas during this period. She studied VFX at Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Her emphasis is on compositing, and has texturing skills as well. For the last 3 years, she learned compositing skills including tracking, match moving, 2D and 3D integration, keying and more. She developed her skills and time management at Studio X, which has real production plates, clients and deadlines.

It was a really good chance to experience a collaborative work environment and to learn how important following directions and meeting deadlines are. She learned how to communicate with the director, producers, and colleagues. Ella also joined a collaborative animation project named “The Second Chance” as a texture artist. She worked on environment and prop texturing and fixing modeling problems, UV and caches. Through the collaborative project experience above, she learned the VFX pipeline and improved adaptability.

She enjoys challenging herself, She invests time and energy to improve her skills. She can't wait to work on amazing projects.
