Zakaman Wu

Animation & Visual Effects / MFA

In 2009 Zak graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor’s degree in Film & TV Production. After graduating, he stayed in Los Angeles as he worked for three years as a technical director and editor for V Channel, an infomercial channel broadcasting in the UK. In 2012, he branched out on his own, working as a freelancer on films, TV, MV, and commercial projects, in post as an assistant editor/editor, and on set in both camera and art departments.

An avid photographer, Zak has been taking photos all his life; he also has over 4 years’ experience as a photographer for live events. Many late nights spent retouching dailies in photoshop incited within him a passion for still compositing. Even before his career began, his forte had always been with the technical aspects of media production; he was constantly building up software proficiencies to add to his repertoire. It has all prepared him for a move in 2016 to the Bay Area to pursue an education in Visual FX. He hopes to work in film or TV as a compositor. In his spare time, he likes to fly his drone, has a passion for 360-degree photography and VR compositing, and shoots custom calendars for the losers in his fantasy league.
