Dwaine Hill

Fashion / BA

Raised in a small, midwestern Kansas town, Dwaine Hill’s only outlet for fashion was through the glossy pages of consumer magazines. In his junior year of high school he lost himself in an issue of W Magazine, soaking up the editorial fashion, arts and culture stories, and celebrity biopics. Unbeknownst to him at the time, a career in fashion journalism was burgeoning within him. At 21, he moved to the East Coast to immerse himself in the world of fashion and he never looked back.
Dwaine’s experience in fashion spans over 10 years in retail as he has worked for some of the most prestigious brands in the world. He was an ambassador for Giorgio Armani, Stella McCartney, Hermes of Paris, Louis Vuitton, and most recently Alexander McQueen. His passion for understanding the world of fashion reached far beyond retail, which led him to pursue his Bachelor’s degree in fashion journalism at Academy of Art University (AAU). During his time at AAU, his knowledge of the industry was put to the test, his voice as a writer developed, and he gained a plethora of skills that would advance him in his journalistic career.
Looking towards the future, Dwaine dreams to be a regular writing contributor for fashion magazines around the world. Publications like CR Fashion Book, Kinfolk, and Fantastic Man are his sources for inspiration and he has aspirations to see his name within their cover pages. He also looks forward to launching his own style and culture magazine, The Sum, which he produced during his final year at Academy of Art University.
