Emma Flores

Animation & Visual Effects / MFA

Mexican Born lighting Artist based in Los Angeles, Emma is currently working as a lighting apprentice at Disney Animation Studios in Burbank, CA, as well as an MFA student at AAU. Her curiosity for 3D lighting and shading began the first time she saw Pixar's 'Ratatouille', it was then when she started to question the process behind 3D films. Emma was fascinated by the impact that color, composition, and lighting have in storytelling and it was then when she started her path in the industry. Emma studied 3D Animation in college, where she understood the importance in the relation between art and technology and how they complement each other in this form of art. Then, she decided to specialize in lighting by attending grad school at Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Emma has been part of different programs such as volunteering for the VES Bay Area. She has spent six months at a mentorship program in which she was lucky to be mentored by a fantastic lighting TD from Pixar. This experience opened a world of possibilities. It showed her the importance of communication and that everything behind a compelling work has a firm intention behind it. Her passion for the industry keeps growing every day. She is proud to be part of the VFX community.
