Blane Asrat
My name is Blane Asrat, and I'm a Senior in Industrial Design at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. I want to make the world a more empathetic and equal place.
I’m looking for employment opportunities with the goal of designing products that empower voices and communities that have been traditionally overlooked by the design world.

Everything you wear tells a story, so whose story are you telling? For my senior project in Product Design, I wanted to tell the story of Continental African Youth. Black creatives are reviving indigenous stories, recycling waste, and employing vivid use of color. I was inspired by Nsibidi symbols from modern day Nigeria, and artists such as Serge Attukwei Clottey and Prince Gyasi.
This unique work bag is an homage to the artists at the frontier of African creativity today.
